2018 Impala shut itself off completely at stop light and would not restart.

2018 Impala shut itself off completely at stop light and would not restart.
2018 Impala LS (4 cyl) with Start/Stop. About 30k miles on it.
No problems with car except this one incident.
I came to a red traffic light on a city road and as usual, after coming to a stop the engine shuts off, BUT the tach needle went below the 'Auto Stop' and went all the way to Off.
Then, when removing my foot from the pedal, the car did NOT restart.
The ignition button was dark (no lights of any color). But when I hit the button the car would not start. Nothing. Then I put it in park, and I could restart it and went on from there normally.
Usually, when you do not have the car in park and try to start it the dashboard displays something like: 'Put the car in park'. But in this case, it did not do that.
I was a bit unsettling. But has not happened since and never happened before.
I had someone else with me and they confirm what happened.
Weird?
Does anyone know if I take this to the mechanic, perhaps the computer would have stored something?
There is no check engine light on. The car seems normal now.
Any insights would be appreciated.

I don't have any answers relating to the cause. I would mention it to the dealership service department on your next visit. They may have a correction and or updated programming to address it.
