Default 2008 Suburban problems

Hello. New to forum. We own a 08 Burban. At 100,000 miles dealer replaced camshaft and lifters. 250 miles after that fix Service Engine light comes back on and they replaced an oil pressure sensor. Now the Serviice engine light came on today at 103,000 miles and now they need to pull the oil pan 300 bucks. Check oil pump 1100 bucks and possible main bearings 3500. Anyone else been through this horse and pony show with the 5.3 liter? Thanks

AFM problem should have been cured by camshaft and lifters, but not sure if thats the only part of the cure. Stuck pistons and rings maybe?

The codes they got would be helpful. I would expect the cost of the oil pump to also include the cost of the oil pan removal. The oil pump itself appears to be less than $150. Labor to replace the oil pan is 3.5 hours and labor to replace the oil pump is 8.5 hours. So something doesn't seem to add up to me. This is all stuff I gleaned from alldata on my tahoe 5.3. Hope it is helpful.

Your right, what I fear is that the camshaft filings have polluted the rest of the system.

The dealer pulled the oil pan and everything looks good so that is a positive. The main bearings are good to go also so that is another positive. They are going to replace the oil pump so hopefully that is what needs to be done. I don' t have the code right off hand but will post it later. No shavings were found so hopefully we get some more life out of this motor and vehicle. It's a 2008 LTZ Suburban that we love and enjoy just hate the stupid Service Engine Light as of recent.
