stabil. warning light on, no 4th gear, no PRNDL, no backup sensor...108k mi
if its the resistor, neither tech, nor service advisor, nor parts counter person at Jim Ellis Chevy in Atlanta has any idea what I'm talking about when I ask to get terminating resistor replaced, as has been stated repeatedly in this forum
what now?

You have hit a bunch of topics in one paragraph, lets break them down a bit...
The PRNDL is likely the FET on the instrument panel the dealer WILL NOT do a board level reapir, they one will replace the whole IP cluster....
the Stbilitrac error could be a number of things, you will need to see what codes are stored....

The resistor is located along the rear axel (2007 Tahoe). The spare tire will have to be lowered to access. It's low ohm, 121ohms I think. I changed mine so I know it exists! Also I changed my brake switch and that fixed the problem! See someone's post below:

Electrical problems that trigger stabili-trac seem to be pretty common with the Silverados and Tahoes. I had the problem with our newest Silverado (2010) and it was very difficult to fix. I fought this problem for months, stabili-track, traction control, brakes dragging and applying themselves etc. The Silverado was at one dealership for 2 1/2 months before they figured it out. Here is a list of items they replaced that did .
Body control module
powertrain control module
Transmission control module
they checked all the connnectors between the Hi and Low speed LAN circuits.
They went as far as telling me that my DVD player which came in the truck was causing the problem... I called BS on that!
When I Told them I wanted a factory rep involved, they got one the next day. The rep got some specialist techs involved and they ended up replacing a terminating resistor in the wiring harness (by the spare tire) and the negative battery cable. The problem has not re-occured for over 6 months.

What we have here is failure to communicate
The frustrating part is not using the correct car-speak name of the part, and assuming the tech has any training for the data link system of these newer cars. (Data Link resistor, DLAN resistor, GMLAN Terminator, GM High Speed LAN terminating resistor)
This should help....
