Well Preserved 1998 Chevy Silverado Has Just 18K Original Miles
This low-mile 1998 Chevy Silverado is a well-equipped example that’s also been immaculately cared for over the years.
These days, low-mile vehicles of all sorts seem to be coming out of the woodwork as barn hunters look to turn a profit on their discoveries. Not to terribly long ago, this mostly consisted of things like muscle cars or classic rides, old vehicles that had already cemented their collector status. However, in more recent times, modern-era vehicles have become red hot, and we’re starting to see some very nice examples of those, too. Case in point – this amazingly well preserved 1988 Chevy Silverado, which was just auctioned off over at Autohunter.
This 1998 Chevy Silverado is a nicely equipped example with the coveted Z71 package and four-wheel drive, and it’s a regular cab model to boot. However, it also has just 18k miles on the clock, which is certainly not something you see terribly often – these trucks were made to be driven and used, after all. It’s unclear why, exactly, the previous owner chose not to drive it very much over the past couple of decades, but the results speak for themselves.
As one might imagine, this Silverado is still wearing its original Victory Red paint with Pewter two-tone on the bottom, and as was typical for the time, it has some added accessories such as a bug deflector, vent visors, wheel well chrome pieces, taillight covers, and a drop-in bedliner. Other than one dent, it’s essentially flawless, and the same goes for the stellar gray leather interior.
This is a nicely equipped pickup that has loads of amenities including power windows, locks, and mirrors, as well as cruise control and a tilt steering wheel. The previous owner did add a touchscreen stereo and an aftermarket steering wheel, but everything else is essentially untouched and original. Power comes from GM’s 5.0-liter Vortec V8, which sends power to the wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
In fantastic shape with loads of documentation and a clean history, it’s hard to deny the appeal of this well-kept 1998 Chevy Silverado. Bidders clearly agreed, because the pickup ultimately hammered for $29,500, which is good money for a truck from this era, though it may also look like a bargain in the coming years as ’90s pickups become more and more popular with collectors and enthusiasts alike.
