1948 GMC Might Be the Deal of the Century

Would this be the best idea ever, or the worst idea of all time?

We may have just stumbled across the deal of the century, and it’s taking all of our willpower to not start liquidating everything to buy this damn pickup truck. Classic Cars has this 1948 GMC truck listed up for sale, and we ache to own it. This two-and-a-half ton truck comes with a 5 speed manual, two-speed rear end, and it’s powered by a 270 straight six. Only four people have ever owned it, and it has well under 15k miles on the clock. It’s even been given a partial restoration and it’s listed at “runs great.”

And now for the big kicker. It’s listed at $15,000 OBO. Fifteen thousand dollars. For a 1948 GMC dually that runs and drives. It’s all of our dreams wrapped into one sexy orange and black package for less than the cost of a 10 year old Sierra HD.

And this is what has us scared and frightened.

You know the old saying. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. But it’s listed on a reputable site, and there are lots of photos. But it’s also older than we are and we know how finicky old metal like this can be. Sure it runs great now, but when was the last time it was stressed? Will it explode when we drop three round bales in the back? Or will it become the greatest truck we ever own, and it manages to outlive us and move on to do more work for our children?

Please, someone go buy this truck. Right now. Because if you buy it, we don’t have to.
