Most consider the 1955 Chevy pickup to be the peak of truck design. And this gorgeous example reminds us why.

As much as we love our modern pickups, the ’50s were a special time. This is especially true with the offerings that came from Chevrolet during this era. With incredibly attractive styling that rivaled passenger cars of the day, you no longer had to drive a truck designed to be nothing more than a truck. In fact, trucks like this 1955 Chevy pickup that we spotted in the Chevrolet Forum Marketplace might just represent the golden era of styling.

1955 also marked the beginning of an important era for Chevrolet. It was the first year for Chevy’s new “Task Force Series,” which offered, among other things, the industry’s first wrap around windshield. Deluxe cab buyers could also get wrap around rear windows as an option for a truly sleek look. Things like power steering, power brakes, 12-volt electrical systems, and V8 engines also made their debut in the venerable Chevy pickup.

This particular ’55 might not be 100% stock, but we certainly won’t pick any bones with its mods. For starters, the bright blue paint job complements those iconic lines perfectly. The chrome shines like new, the wooden bed inserts are beautiful, and even the aftermarket wheels fit nicely. The old original engine is long gone, replaced by a more modern 283 with a 4-speed manual transmission behind it.
