1956 Chevy 150 Sedan Delivery Hot Rod Hits Mecum Auctions

This glossy black 1956 Chevy 150 Sedan Delivery is up for sale and houses a new Chevrolet blueprinted 383 CI crate engine under the hood.

Back in its heyday, the Chevy 150 was one of the most popular nameplates in the segment. Over the years, the car became a rare sight. Interestingly enough, you can now get your hands on a breathtaking  1956 Chevy 150 Sedan Delivery, as this gorgeous wagon was recently listed on Mecum Auctions.

The 150 Sedan Delivery was the workhorse of the 1956 150/210/Bel-Air line. This car began its transformation journey as an entry-level model with minimal additions, and only the most basic features in its factory spec. The Chevy 150 in question is now an automotive artwork. The wagon’s bodywork sports a glossy black paint job.

The hot rod retains its classic appeal. Refurbished chrome trims and bumpers enhance the car’s appeal, and the stainless bits have been polished well. That aside, the car now gets a new suspension which is much lower at the front than the rear. This gives the hot rod an aggressive stance. The car rides on beautiful five-spoke wheels that get low-profile radial rubber. The taillights feature classic hot rod “Blue Dots.”

This Chevy gets power brakes (front discs), Kenwood CD changer, power steering, and AM/FM/cassette player.

The bright red interior of the car is a complete contrast to the black bodywork. However, the cabin does get a black steering wheel which complements the exterior paint scheme. Furthermore, the gleaming chrome and stainless bits enhance the cabin’s appeal. In addition to this, the gauges in the car have crystal clear lenses, and we also find auxiliary gauges under the dash. Finally, Vintage Air Controls replace the factory equipment and complete the ensemble.

The 150 wagon ditches its original 235 cubic-inch Blue Flame motor and two-speed power glide automatic transmission. Instead, we find a 383 cubic inch crate engine under the hood. The car also gets an automatic transmission and Magnaflow mufflers with free-flow exhaust manifolds.

Apart from that, the hot rod also gets an Edelbrock intake manifold, a polished billet serpentine belt drive system, an electric fan, a heavy-duty aluminum radiator, and a transmission cooler.  Lastly, this Chevy 150 Sedan Delivery will be going on sale at Mecum Auctions Chicago, which is will be held between October 21st and 23rd.
