2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss: All-Electric Off-Road Fun Machine
With 725 horsepower on tap and a variety of functional upgrades, the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss looks like a ton of fun.
The Chevy Silverado EV has been on the market for some time now, but it’s safe to say that all-electric pickups simply aren’t quite as red hot with consumers as they once were. It wasn’t that long ago that folks were lining up to pay way more than sticker price to bring home one of these large EV pickups, but the market has cooled substantially now that early adopters have exited the market. Regardless, GM offers some of the most impressive EV pickups on the market, and for those that like to traverse off the pavement from time to time, the new 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss looks like the one they’ve been waiting for.
The 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss follows the same sort of formula that its ICE counterpart does in terms of upgrades – including a two-inch lift compared to the regular, run of the mill Silverado EV, plus a set of 35-inch all-terrain tires. The result is quite a bit more ground clearance – 24 percent more, to be specific – than the standard model, which makes it much easier to clear various off-road obstacles.
Of course, GM didn’t just give the Silverado EV a lift and some tires and call it a day, either. Rather, the Trail Boss features a specially tuned coil suspension and hydraulic rebound control to help it better navigate all sorts of off-road conditions, not to mention a couple of special drive modes. The first is Terrain, which specifically enhances the truck’s four-wheel steering system at lower speeds to make it easier to maneuver, as well as Sidewinder – which gives the Silverado EV the ability to turn its front and rear wheels in the same direction and crab walk, just like the Hummer EV.
Aside from these functional upgrades, the Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss also stands out from the rest of the lineup visually, as it features red tow hooks up front, housed in a bumper that has been modified to improve the truck’s approach angle. There’s also plenty of Trail Boss badging, as one would expect, coupled with auxiliary switches inside the cabin, so owners can wire up additional lighting or other accessories.
In terms of battery pack options, the Silverado EV Trail Boss can be had with a couple of them – the Extended Range, which provides 410 miles of range at a cost of of $72,095, or the Max Range, which is rated to travel 478 miles of range on a single charge and starts out at $88,695. Both utilize a pair of electric motors making a healthy 725 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque, and are slated to launch at some point this coming summer.
