Unstoppable Bone-stock Silverado Tackles the Trails
Out in the Arizona desert, 2013 Silverado slowly traverses the roughest part of the trail with just a pair of American Bow Ties.
It’s that time again! Welcome back to “Off-roading Wednesdays” on Chevrolet Forum. It’s the only place where you’ll see the best videos of Chevy trucks and SUVs playing as hard as they work. From snow-capped mountains and swampy lowlands, to sand dunes and desert trails, if it’s out there, so will Chevy.
Speaking of the desert, this week, we take you to somewhere in Arizona in early April of 2017. There, a 2013 Silverado Z71 is captured by YouTuber Greg Anderson, traversing a rough section of a random trail in stock form.

The video starts in the middle of the Silverado’s descent. One rear wheel is already off the ground, the rest are planted on terra firma. No off-road tires, no raised suspension, no skid plates. Just an American flag Bow Tie on the stock chrome grille, another on the tailgate. Anderson (or his friend; we’re not sure) moves behind the silver pickup to better capture the final stretch.

Slowly, slowly the Silverado goes. One wheel off the ground one moment, the other wheel in the next. The truck lurches and bounces carefully towards a pair of hefty rocks on one side of the trail, skidding across at times. It’s a lot of work to keep this truck from getting stuck or truly going off the beaten path.

Past the boulders, the Silverado crawls over to the next rut, the camera following behind. At one point, the truck lifts its left rear tire as high as a dog peeing on a fire hydrant. Eventually, it brings it all back down to earth, where the last dozen feet are as flat as a rough desert trail can be.

The Silverado bounces towards the main road, coming to a stop at the end of the trail. The cameraman runs down to catch up to the driver to congratulate him on navigating the rough-and-tumble path in a Chevy whose only mods are a pair of American flag Bow Ties. Truly a testament of our favorite brand’s talents.
