All-new Blazer lands on the list with new marketplace app, high placement of eight-inch touchscreen, and reliable old favorites.

Not too long ago, Chevrolet brought back the Blazer nameplate after going around 14 years without. Instead of the compact SUV of the Eighties, Nineties, and the early 2000s (or the big K5 Blazer before it), we have a midsize crossover ready for the New ’20s, with interior and exterior styling cues similar to those of the Camaro. It may not be hitting the trails anytime soon, but the Blazer can take the fight to the streets against lesser crossovers in its class.

And it’s winning so far. Wards Auto recently published its “Wards 10 Best UX 2019 Winners” list. The fourth edition of this list, which is focused on how user-friendly a given vehicle’s infotainment system is, may be dominated by the Germans for 2019, but Chevrolet makes its second consecutive appearance on the list with the new Blazer.

“User experience – or UX – is one of the hottest buzzwords in the auto industry,” said Wards Senior Content Director Drew Winter. “This year’s pool of winners illustrates the industry’s progress in giving drivers access to a wealth of information and entertainment options without distraction.”

Not only is the Blazer Chevy’s second appearance on the list overall — the first time was with the 2018 Equinox — Chevrolet itself is just one of two American brands on the 2019 (the other being Ford, of course).

The Blazer helped Chevrolet make the 2019 list thanks to its high placement of the eight-inch touchscreen, which minimizes driver distraction. The large icons of the My Chevrolet infotainment system also scored big points with Wards for much the same reason. To top it off, the system has a new Marketplace mobile shopping app, designed to do everything from locate and pay for fuel at gas stations, to book hotel rooms along the way. And of course, its speech recognition is tops, too.

The rest of the Blazer’s tech package are showstoppers for Wards, too. The OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi system “is as reliable as a bloodhound,” the automatic cruise control can stop and go like a champ, and driver aids like lane-departure warning and collision alert all make driving a better experience.

The Blazer will be on display along with the other 2019 UX winners during Wards’ 2019 WardsAuto User Experience Conference on October 1 in Novi, Michigan.
