EXCLUSIVE: 2019 Chevy Silverado Spy Shots Reveal New Details!
Camo slip gives us our best look yet at 2019 truck’s exterior and interior.
A number of 2019 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra mules have been spotted testing on public roads to this point. But all of them sported heavy camouflage that made it difficult to gather any real details about the newly redesigned truck. But now we’ve spotted a lightly camouflaged Silverado that offers us our best look yet at Chevy’s new full size pickup.
We caught this particular 2019 Chevrolet Silverado prototype running around near GM’s proving grounds without the white mesh that has covered the headlights of every other prototype to date. This slip up gives us our first look at the new truck’s uncovered headlights and bottom LED strip.
The new headlight design is much more angular than the old one, with a thin strip up top that encompasses three individual lighting elements. We also get a better look at the new, more expressive front bumper design.
This prototype pickup truck is also missing the black-and-white graphic camo, located beneath the vinyl camo that we’ve seen on previous mules. This gives us a much clearer look at the lower portion of the body, the door cut lines, and the area where the body and mud flaps meet.
Chevrolet isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel with the 2019 Silverado, but we should expect some nice modern updates on a proven formula.
It also gives us a peek at the 2019 Chevy Silverado’s side-exit exhaust — another first on a 2019 Chevy Silverado prototype. All previous prototypes had twin exhaust pipes exiting directly back from the rear bumper. This is a sure sign that Chevy is expanding the selection of engines it is testing in the new truck.
These shots also offer us our first look at the new Silverado’s interior. The overall layout doesn’t stray too far from the current model, with a similar center stack layout. There’s a large infotainment screen with audio controls directly beneath it and HVAC controls further down. The button layout, again, is similar to the current Silverado. The overall look is clean, simple, and user friendly.
It’s clear that Chevrolet isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel with the 2019 Silverado. But the changes we’ve seen so far indicate that we should expect some nice modern updates on a proven formula.
