Made by GM subsidiary Wuling, the Zhengtu truck can haul more than a Chevy Colorado.

GM’s tentacles reach far and wide, with China being a significant market for the US brand. One such Chinese company under the GM umbrella is Wuling, and they make the truck you see here, called the Zhengtu. According to The Drive, the best pronunciation for that is “jong-too,” but you can also call it really inexpensive.

Priced at just $9,035 dollars, your mind is probably already imagining how little you’d get, but it turns out the truck isn’t all that bad. Modern, cohesive styling is part of the offering, but it also includes an 8 inch infotainment screen, with features activated by voice control.

The bed is its strong point. All three sides fold down, which allows you to fly drones or spray your friends with water while you sell plants. Bed bars are shown when the sides are folded up, but nowhere to be seen when the sides are down. Do they stow away somewhere? Are they necessary for holding the sides up? We’re not quite sure.

But on a serious note, it is actually larger than the bed found on the Chevy Colorado. The length of the Zhengtu has the Colorado by 5 inches. And because the wheels are extremely tiny and there’s no wheel wells, it’s wider by fifteen inches. From a “truck stuff” standpoint, this little truck isn’t looking all too bad.

That is, till you ask about the details. Power comes from a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder gasoline engine which makes double-digit horsepower. Not kidding. 99. That’s it. So while you can fit a lot of stuff on the bed of the Zhengtu, it’s not going to get it to the final destination with any urgency.

Plus, safety isn’t exactly the Zhengtu’s strong point. But considering it’ll be almost perpetually traveling at slow speeds means the risk of somewhat offset. The Drive seems to overlook the fact the truck does contain air bags (at least one), but at least it does acknowledge the presence of anti-lock brakes.
