Gorgeous 1990 Chevrolet 454 SS is a Fine Example of the Racing Breed

Pristine condition 1990 Chevrolet 454 SS with a rich black paint job is up for sale and can be yours for $75,900

Lil Red Express, GMC Syclone, and Ford F-150 Lightning are some of the most beloved performance pickup trucks of all time. Then there was the Chevrolet 454 SS, which was a relatively cheaper version of GMC Syclone, with minor performance differences. The truck we are discussing is a fine example of the breed and is currently up for sale.

This 1990 model has a $75,900 price tag and is being sold by RK Motors Charlotte. In its heyday, this Chevy pickup truck was big on power. Chevrolet 454 SS was fitted with a 454 cubic inch V-8, and its maximum power output was rated at 385 lb-ft of torque and 230 HP. That may not sound impressive today, but back in the day, this truck was a force to be reckoned with.

This black Chevy 454 pickup truck has been outfitted with factory plastic, power front discs, air conditioning, and power drums on the back. The truck rides on a set of 15-inch rims, which are wrapped in BFGoodrich. The red-accented 454’s odometer reads just over eight miles since new. That said, the only downside, if one’s being picky about it, is the surface rust on the driveshaft and the rear differential.

Interestingly enough, the Chevrolet 454 SS was built on a relatively small platform with a big-block engine. Although it was a full-size truck, it was the lightest version that Chevy produced at the time. The powerplant of the single-cab pickup was hooked up to a three-speed transmission. Chevrolet 454 SS could accelerate to 60 MPH from a complete standstill in under eight seconds.

Most of the earlier models sported a blacked-out grille which complemented the truck’s all-black paint job. This 454 SS flaunts big stickers that are slapped on either side of the flatbed and a red bowtie badge on the grille. Safe to say, Chevrolet, cut no corners when it came to making the pickup stand out.

The Golden Bow tie brand only produced 16,953 units of the Chevrolet 454 SS. Despite its looks and performance, this Chevy pickup wasn’t as popular as its GMC sibling back in the day. The Syclone was faster, but at more than $25,000, it was also more expensive, whereas the 454 SS retailed at around $18,000. Thirty years later, this gorgeous 454 SS is an exclusive ride that will make one lucky owner very happy.
