K5 Chevy Blazer With LS Swap

This K5 Chevy Blazer was treated to a no expenses spared redo, and the result is arguably the perfect vintage SUV.

These days, vintage SUVs are all the rage, with values for these particular models skyrocketing to new record highs on a daily basis. Thus, we’re also seeing some truly amazing restorations and custom builds involving old utility vehicles, and sometimes, builds that combine a little bit of both. That’s certainly the case with this amazing K5 Chevy Blazer up for grabs on eBay at the moment, as it looks like a meticulously restored example at first glance, though there’s far more to this build than that.

The owner of this K5 Chevy Blazer treated it to a “no expenses spared” redo just a couple of years ago, giving it a true frame-off rebuild with the intent of making it absolutely perfect. But other than simply looking good enough to win trophies at car shows, this old Blazer was also designed to be a reliable machine that one could drive cross-country in if they so please.

One would be hard-pressed to tell that’s the case from the outside, because all we see is a gorgeous ’72 Blazer with perfect bodywork and an iconic color covering its flanks – Hugger Orange. The panel fit here is pure perfection, the paint shines brightly, and all of the chrome and adorning trim looks like brand new, because, well, it is. The same goes for the flawless interior, which was completely redone in its mostly original guise, save for the addition of Dakota Digital gauges.

Pop the hood, and it’s a completely different story, however. There, you’ll find a newer 6.0-liter LS-based powerplant that’s largely stock, yet enhanced with an aluminum radiator and electric fans to keep it cool on those summer road trips. The modern V8 is mated to a 4L80 automatic transmission for easy highway cruising, making for a potent and reliable combination that’s cheap and easy to work on when the time calls for it.

After owning it for five years and using it mostly for car shows, the owner of this amazing K5 Chevy Blazer is ready to move on, giving someone else the chance to bring it home. Given how popular these machines are these days, we don’t doubt that it’ll prove to be a hot entity at auction, and likely one that’ll sell for big money, too.
