Special-edition 2018 Corvette Z06s made in honor of Hertz’s 100th anniversary, wear yellow paint with black stripes.

For a few decades now, rental car company Hertz has offered, among other fine Chevrolet cars and trucks, a few high-performance options. The most famous of these, of course, are the black-and-gold Hertz Shelby Mustangs from the Sixties, the 2000s, and as recent as 2016.

For the company’s 100th anniversary in 2018, though, Hertz tapped Chevrolet for a special project: the 100th Anniversary Edition Corvette Z06. Only 100 were made for the celebration, and all were offered in 14 cities around the country. And soon, they’ll be ready for purchase.

The Hertz Corvette Z06 is all about appearance, as nothing was changed to the supercharged, 655-horsepower, 655-lb-ft of torque 6.2-liter V8, nor to the eight-speed automatic each one has. The special edition ‘Vette instead wears yellow tintcoat with a pair of black stripes running from front to back on the outside, along with a set of black aluminum wheels all around. The interior, meanwhile, is black with yellow stitching, plus Hertz badging and a plaque celebrating the company’s 100th anniversary.

Though no set time of arrival at Hertz Car Sales has been given beyond “soon,” the company says only a handful of dealers in their sales channel will receive an allotment of the Hertz Corvette Z06. When they do arrive, financing can be had through the dealership, just like your regular Chevy dealer. Let’s hope a few of these special ‘Vettes continue to hit the road like they did when you could get them from the rental counter.
