Modified Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 Fails to Get Much Love at Auction
Despite sporting a bevy of nifty modifications, this Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 didn’t attract many bids, though there is one good reason why.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 is a beloved machine within the pickup’s lineup for one very good reason – it’s a great-looking and highly-capable pickup that can cover various off-road trails with no trouble, right out of the box. It might not be quite as over-the-top as some of its competition (i.e., the Ford F-150 Raptor), but for some, that’s perfectly fine, and perhaps preferable – after all, parking something much wider can oftentimes be a challenge, not to mention a disadvantage on tight trails. However, this particular modified 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 didn’t get much love when it crossed the auction block recently.
Rather, after spending a week collecting bids at Cars & Bids, this 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 only topped out at $42,750, despite its original sticker price of $77,150. That would be somewhat surprising if the truck was bone stock, but in this case, it has also been treated to a bevy of high-dollar medications as well. Those start on the outside with a silver vinyl wrap with American flag decals covering wide FiberwerX fenders and bedsides, along with a Prerunner front bumper, aftermarket running lights, and a new front grille.
Those looks are further upgraded with the addition of a set of 17-inch Method Race beadlock wheels wrapped in 37-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain KO2 tires, which have enough room to move thanks to custom wheel liners. They’re supported by a King dual-shock front suspension system with 2.5-inch coilovers featuring remote adjustable reservoirs and 3.0 three-tube bypass, while in the rear, one will find King’s 3.5-inch tube bypass rear suspension system with a 16-inch stroke and up to 19 inches of travel.
The suspension mods don’t stop there either, and also include the addition of a beefier front sway bar, a Baja Kits prerunner kit, Deaver leaf springs, and long travel shackles, while custom skid plates help protect the vital bits and pieces. Out back, one will also find Baja Designs rear bed lights, a Line-X bedliner, bed rails for spare tires, and oversized bed wheel well liners, while the bed itself has. been cut to accommodate the aforementioned suspension upgrades.
Despite all of this goodness, the heavily-modified Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 simply didn’t garner a ton of interest at auction, but then again, mods rarely wind up helping the sales price of any vehicle. On top of that, this pickup also has some dents, chips, and scratches on the outside, and sustained “minor damage” after it went through some water, causing hydro lock to the engine, and as a result, the original 6.2-liter V8 was replaced. Regardless, for the right price, this off-road-capable machine certainly looks like it’d be a good buy as a fun and capable toy.
