Owner Discusses Driving the New Bolt EV

Chevy Bolt EV

Bolt booster goes over all the bells and whistles of Chevy’s hot new ride.

It seems like all the talk surrounding electric vehicles centers on Tesla and other companies that are producing vehicles that are out of many normal people’s price range. However, this year, Chevy is introducing the 2017 Bolt EV and people are starting to post their thoughts about the new vehicle. We’re not talking about what stars like Bill Nye are thinking about the new Bolt. No, we want to hear from everyday, normal drivers and their thoughts.

According to Green Car Reports, many users are posting feedback on their new Bolts all over Facebook. One such driver, Brian Ro, has posted his overall thoughts about the vehicle, and no surprise here, he loves it!

Ro was forthcoming about the overall drive of the vehicle. “You can easily squeal the tires off the line, even in power-reduced mode!” he says. “The ride is solid, and very similar to that of a Volt. You don’t get bounced around on a rough road as you do in a BMW i3, with its bicycle-thin tires, for example.”

Many potential Bolt owners are worried about the interior of the vehicle. Considering it’s a smaller car, people worry that unless you’re a small person, it might feel a bit cramped. According to Ro, you shouldn’t worry so much about the interior spacing. “Interior space is…spacey! I am 6 feet tall, and with the driver’s seat set at a comfortable level, I have at least 4 to 5 inches of headroom to spare. The Bolt’s front seats also sit much higher than those in the Volt, so it’s more like an SUV seating position despite the subcompact footprint,” said Ro. While he admits that the feel of the interior isn’t completely luxurious, he praises the storage space in the rear, especially the depth of the trunk area.

What about all those safety features that are offered in the new Bolt? Ro praises the ease of use and how handy they are. Unfortunately there’s one aspect of the vehicle’s safety features he hasn’t had a chance to test, but he’s ready and willing, if he gets a volunteer! “I haven’t tested the front pedestrian-braking system yet. If someone in the Central Maryland area wants to be a guinea pig, let me know. You’ll have to sign a waiver that says it’s not my fault if my Bolt runs you over, though,” jokes Ro.

Not sure if he’ll get any takers on that offer, so we’re probably going to have to wait on his final word regarding the pedestrian-braking system.
