Prerunner Silverado Melts Its Tires, Literally: Wildin’ out Wednesdays

Race-prepped but street legal Silverado can do it all. And that includes dropping the kids off at school!

By now, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the automotive shenanigans of an organization known as The Hoonigans. And if by chance you aren’t, we believe that their company slogan sums them up quite succinctly. To hoon, rather simply, involves “behaving in a rude and aggressive way, especially driving in a dangerous way.” And as you can see from this recent video, that means doing all sorts of incredible things with a race-ready prerunner Chevy Silverado in a parking lot.

That amazing piece of raging red machinery belongs to a fella named Danny Giavanni, who does all sorts of off-road racing in his Silverado for a company called Terra Crew. But what fun would life be if you just used your overpowered, lightweight, high-dollar suspension-equipped pickup for work? No reason to go to all of that trouble building an amazing race rig if you can’t enjoy it as well, right?

So that’s exactly what Giavanni decides to do after paying a visit to his pals at Hoonigans Garage. Like the countless other incredible machines to smoke up this parking lot, the Silverado has the guts to pull off a number of stunts. Including a full-on long travel race suspension, L9H (6.2-liter pickup) motor, and full cage. With some bars that surround, believe it or not, a baby seat. Because this Silverado is actually street legal, and Giavanni drives it on the street. Sometimes, to take his daughter to school.

Ah, if only our dads were that cool. But we digress. This crazy build would be wasted on simple grocery store runs, so Giavanni unleashes it here. After a few crazy jumps and some drifting, we get to see the grand finale – a smokefest that leaves both rear tires smoldering. Not to mention a good six-inch hole in one of those $800 heaps of rubber. But that’s just another day in the life of a Hoonigan!
