Watch a Wicked Chevy S10, Blazer Light up the Drag Strip

Chevy S10 Drag Racing

This wicked-quick Chevy S10 and Blazer are proof that trucks and SUVs belong at the drag strip, which wasn’t always the case.

There was a time, not terribly long ago, when trucks and SUVs weren’t a common sight at the drag strip. This can be attributed to simple physics, as heavy, less-aerodynamic vehicles – particularly when equipped with a bed and little weight over the rear wheels – don’t make great drag racers. However, in recent years, technology and gobs of power have helped overcome these silly little issues, and there are some seriously fast trucks and SUVs out there in the world. Case in point – this very cool Chevy S10 and Blazer, which recently hit the track at Middle Georgia Motorsports Park in Jeffersonville,  Georgia for a little straight-line action, which was captured on film by the YouTube channel Jmalcom2004.

There are plenty of vintage and modern muscle/sports cars in attendance on this particular day, but also more than a few trucks and SUVs – starting with a first-gen Ford F-150 Lightning strutting its stuff. However, next up is a Chevy Blazer that takes on a solo run down the track in rather quick fashion. The super clean machine sounds absolutely wicked when it pulls up to the line, with a fat choppy cam making lustworthy noises and clearly part of something special under the SUV’s sky-high cowl induction hood.

After this nitrous-induced beast gets its run in, we’re treated to yet another cool Bow Tie hauler from this era – a Chevy S10 that’s also clearly far from stock. The most obvious cue here – other than its wicked sound – is the truck’s big and little tire combination, as there’s no gigantic hood or other bodywork mods present. However, there’s no masking the way it sounds.

Close your eyes, and you’d be forgiven for thinking that this Chevy S10 is some old school muscle car, but instead, it’s a super-quick hauler that defies physics as it lifts its nose in the air, hooks, and takes off with authority, rocketing down the track in little time. We don’t get to see any time slips for these machines, but they certainly pass the sniff test.

Watching trucks and SUVs beat up on sports/muscle cars at the track never gets old to us, and we imagine that many readers feel the same way. After all, most of us are old enough to remember when those types of vehicles never showed up at the drag strip, and when they did, it was likely a heavily slanted loss. These days, that gap is far smaller – if it still exists, at all.
