Nicknamed ‘Pandemic,’ this wild 1,500 horsepower show-worthy 1986 Chevy C10 can do just about everything well.

Square-body Chevy trucks are all the rage these days, though one could argue that Bow Tie fans have always loved these old school pickups, and that it just took a long time for the rest of the world to catch up. Whether you like your square bodies lifted, lowered, original, or modified, there’s just no real wrong way to do it, and it’s also pretty hard to mess one up. However, this amazing 1986 Chevy C10 owned by Tim Cagle and built by the folks at Orange County Hot Rods is a bit more special than most of its kind, as we can see in this video from ScottieDTV.

Nicknamed “Pandemic,” this custom 1986 Chevy C10 made its debut at last year’s SEMA Show, where it obviously made quite a bit of noise for a number of reasons. For starters, the team at Orange Country notched and modified the frame to help sit it as close to the ground as possible, to which they added a slew of modern suspension components including custom A-arms, Wilwood spindles and calipers, 14-inch rotors, and some gigantic 24-inch Kompression wheels.

The real star of this show, however, is what lies under the hood – a simply sinister twin-turbocharged 427 cubic-inch LSX V8 with a pair of Nelson 72mm hair dryers, a Dart block, forged internals, custom headers, and a Holley Terminator X controlling the whole thing. The potent powerplant generates an impressive 1,100 horsepower on pump 91 octane gas, or a whopping 1,500 ponies on E85, which it sends to the rear wheels via a Gearstar 4L84E four-speed automatic transmission and a Dutchman 9-inch rear end.

The interior of this beastly machine is equally impressive, containing a host of custom, one-off components including the door panels and bezels before wrapping many of those same surfaces in fine leather. A modern stereo system, Dakota Digital gauges, and custom seats covered in Mercedes leather round out the attractive package, which is equally nice to look at and sit inside.

Ultimately, Cagle wound up with what one could argue is the ultimate square body Chevy pickup – one that’s equally capable of cruising around town, tearing up the drag strip, and bringing home show trophies – and for that reason, it might just be our favorite one yet.
