Default 1998 Chevy cheyenne starting problem

Hey yall, I have a 1998 chevy cheyenne k1500 with the 5.0. I am having issues with the truck starting. It seems like the starter is loosing power when it's trying to start. Replaced the starter. Replaced the clutch engagement switch. Replaced the battery. Truck sat for a while and I tried to start it and it started just fine. Let it run for a bit then turned it off and it did the same thing again. The starter is engaging but it's not like a normal wew wew wew wew. It's more like a wee lug wew lug wew lug. Please help me. I'm leaning towards maybe the starter relay but I thought I would ask for some input before I did. Thank you in advance

My guess is that the new starter is defective. Lots of parts are remanufactured or built overseas these days and QC seems to be missing.

doubt its the relay as all it does is kick the bendix out and make the contact for the power. i take it, the truck was doing this before the starter replacement? also check your grounds (as in take them off and clean them) make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. theyre known to have some corrosion or just poor connections.

Is the starter properly shimmed? Gear engagement might be too tight, cold start good warm start bad would lead me look there first.
