I tried removing the steering wheel with two types of pullers but none of them worked. Is there any other way to remove it without removing the steering column?

 

Which pullers did you try, and why didn't they work. That is the correct way to do it. I guess you could try MacGyvering something out of nuts and bolts.

 

i remember making one for my 89 years ago. wasnt too hard but a typical "T" shape one will work just fine.

 

I tried the 3 claw puller and the normal steering wheel puller but none of them worked

you removed the nut right.....

 

Not sure and yes I removed the nut

 

pretty sure ive had to put the nut back on the steering column shaft without the lock plate in position and smack the nut/shaft with a hammer while pulling up on the wheel. if you have the nut a few threads above the shaft you can strip the threads if you mess up the threads a little you can fix them when you remove the nut.

 

Yes typically using a puller like that I usually find a couple of sharp blows to the tension bolt on the puller can help pop the wheel off. Being a tapered splined shaft it doesn't take but a touch of rust to really bind things up.
