Default what is it?

Hi... I inherited a 1995 Chevy C1500 W/T with a 4.3..... I have done a lot of work on it over the last two years and finally got around to cleaning up the frame.... I did the side rails two days ago and this morning I ground rust on the driver's side frame rail after removing the front wheel.... Near the front of this frame rail is a wire harness that runs into a small "box" attached to the frame.... the box is about two inches square... In all my years, I have never seen anything like this... Anybody got any ideas on what it is? Thanks!

Default probably

Hey... thanks for the reply.... and yes, I googled "crash module" and came up with several images that look like the unit complete with the electric harness.... then I looked for a You Tube and found one about air bag replacement on a 1996 and in the five minute video he showed this device on the outside of the frame rail. Today, I grind rust on the passenger side and there was a mention that there should be one on that side too..... Thanks for the heads up....
