Just perusing the internet, grade C gaskets and most guys that do head gaskets have the heads machined (always a good idea), some even install ARP head studs as they are going to or have the truck tuned or already tuned it, lots of information on DuramaxForum, Duramaxdiesels.

Not sure of your question.? GM 2001 to current uses the Duramax diesel engine only in the 2500HD and 3500HD trucks, they also used it some of the medium duty trucks. 2001-2010 use the same gaskets although a change was made in 2006 and all replacements are this style and come in A B C thickness.

Let me clarify if you did not understand what I wrote, the Duramax engine is the ONLY DIESEL engine in the 2001 to current used in the 2500HD 3500HD trucks, 2000 and prior were 6.5 and 6.2 diesel engines and used in the 2500, 3500 as well as 1/2 ton trucks. GM also installed a 8.1 liter GAS engine with an Allison transmission in the 2500HD and 3500HD for a few years. Yes there were other engines used in the 2500HD and 3500HD trucks 2001-2010, the most common was the 6.0 Liter GAS engine...........
