I just bought this truck with 190K. Anyone else have one? What upgrades or maintenance have you done or do you recommend?

Change ALL the fluids. Motor oil, tranny, axles, transfer case, brake fluid, clutch fluid and of course check the plugs, air filter and power steering fluid,
Grease all fittings too,

I'd also consider upgrading your headlights, I can't tell you how much it impressed me going from regular bulbs to HID's.

Other than that fluid changes is about all you need assuming it's running fine.

I have a 2005 with same setup. Would be interested in what your opinions are after a month or so of ownership.

Nice truck .
I just got a 2005 silverado 1500hd and like oil can says change all fluids and keep records. This truck will last you for awhile. I have been having trouble with my evap canister and trying to work the bugs out . on mine.

Does this have the automatic 4whd or is it manual?

archery1 I am a fan of the truck but have the same evap canister issue. I am told its an easy fix and am looking forward to doing it myself in the next few weeks. Let me know if you do the project and what I might expect. Its manual 4wd with an auto switch. I have never been a big fan of the auto 4wd. so I never use it.

BEER4Bonneville I am a huge fan of this truck. It has a few issues, u joint needs replacing and the pass window solenoid is on its last few rolls. I am looking forward to upgrading the intake and exhaust systems. Going to level her and get some wheels and tires. The engine is still super strong. How do you like the HD?

had code po445 Evap canister .Then replaced that now got code po449 .Electrical connection easy to replace Evap canister for sure. All you need is canister short piece of 5/8" heater hose and 2 small hose clamps. Do not no why after I replaced Evap canister I get this po449 a day after. Seems odd
just working out bugs .I like .The hd 416m for hauling my boat 4 sure.

Not sure if I like the truck yet.

Inherited it from my father-in-law a few months ago.

Motor seems in good shape. Aluminum block which I assume was standard.

Very noisy inside from wind.

Suspension feels like it has 4 pool cues in place of shocks. lol

Gas mileage not bad. 18MPG at 70MPH cruise on highway.

Still on stock tires and rim size. Won't change those.

So still undecided at this time.
