How do I fix DTC P1516
I have a 2006 Silverado 1500. My check engine light went on and a message reduced engine power. The code was P1516. There were several things that could cause this. I have been addressing one at a time. So far, I have cleaned the throttlebody. I have replaced the throttle body sensor. I have added several grounds. I have replaced the air filter and made sure the ducting was clean. There’s only one thing left that I can find anyone talking about and that is the throttle position sensor under the pedal. I plan to replace that next . Is there anything else I should try?
Looking it up ....
P1516 - Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module - Throttle actuator position performance.
Take off the intake and make sure the throttle body is really clean. Especially the throttle plate. Unplug the connector and make sure the terminals are clean and wires are good.
Also, read the GM bulletin in this topic: https://chevroletforum.com/forum/199...-power-114558/
There are some potentially faulty grounds.
So, I have replaced the TPS under the gas pedal. That did not give the desired result of the P 1516. As I said before I’ve replaced ground wires, I replaced the mass airflow sensor and more recently. I have also replaced a TPS at the throttle body. I also removed the throttlebody and cleaned it thoroughly. It now remains in limp mode 100% of the time. I noticed when I was cleaning the throttlebody and I’m mechanically pushed the butterfly closed completely. I can still see light not from it not closing, but from it, not making a solid connection. as a profession I repair commercial valves I know that in valves there has to be a complete solid connection like airtight, is that true in the throttle body butterfly because if it is then, maybe that is my issue. Does anybody know whether or not the butterfly needs an airtight connection when it’s closed?
ok well neither the MAF or TPS are throttle actuators, and I wouldn't expect throwing random parts at it to fix the problem.
Did you go through the procedures in the bulletin? there's more than just grounds
that's the accelerator pedal position sensor.
TPS = throttle position sensor, and it's mounted to the throttle body

T GLopez, you need to diagnose what the problem is and stop throwing parts at the problem - especially parts that are not part of the system that is not functioning correctly. You also need to understand what is or is not occurring for the P1516 to occur;
