Default Neutral safety switch issues

Sudden problems with shifting not lining up with indicator and not reading park. Replaced neutral safety switch. Adjusted and truck started run through gears all read properly except 1. Drove next day no issues. Following day no start. Readjust sensor truck started. Run through gears and not lining up and won’t restart. Replace electrical plugs and re adjust. Truck starts works through gears won’t restart. Get pissed take sensor off trans and zip tie sensor in park position and tie up to frame. Truck now starts for sure shifter reads park and when running through gears goes blank. While driving suddenly doors lock and reads drive. Get to work run shifter through gears and reads correct through all gears but won’t restart. End of day it fires right up. I thought neutral safety switch told indicator what gear it was in. With sensor off and zip tied in park position what is telling indicator what gear I’m in? And could that sensor be bad or sticking??
