Default RE: 2007 Chevy Silverado & the CRACKING DASH!!"

I actually posted my issue with my dash in October 2013 and I was given a call to have it fixed for $100.00. I unfortunately, wasnt able to follow up after a rough year with my health. However, I am ready now and I guess everything happens for a reason because my dash has cracked in to more areas.I have attached pictures. Can someone please contact me to follow up on my truck. Thanks.

Angry The main problems I've had are stickied! Imagine that!

Brand new forum member here. I have an 07 new body style truck. My first time on this forum, and the main two problems I've had from this truck are addressed in the sticky threads. My dash started cracking when the truck was 4 years old, and I've had lifter and camshaft issues that cost me lots of $$$$! I'm obviously not the only one with these two problems!

Wow! I have a similar problem with my dash cracking. 2010 1500 bought new with 16,000 miles. I have owned many Chevy products over 40 some years and this is the first time I've ever had a problem with a dash cracking. Normally Chevy has a great product with great reliability. I can count on one hand all the warranty issues I had over 40 years.

Default Chevy Silverado Transmissions

I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado LTZ and at roughly 15,000 miles or so my transmission had to be replaced. Which was fine since it was under warranty. However, for the past week I noticed my truck is acting up again and the check engine light came on. My truck only has 60,000 miles on it! This is RIDICULOUS.. i take very good care of my truck. I love my Chevy.. But this along with the cracked dash is really a disappointment, especially after spending what I spent for it. Anyone else having transmission issues?? I know many have dashboard cracking issues.

Default Same problem

I have the same problem! My dash has cracked on both sides of the instrument panel, and along 2 corners of the passenger side airbag. I keep my truck clean and take very good care of it. This is very bothersome to me. I have always owned F-150's, this was my first Chevy, and am seriously beginning to question my decision to switch. Yes all vehicles have problems, but this seems to be affecting a lot of folks with the same vehicles. This is not a freak issue, and GM should be standing behind their product.

* Quoted $700 to replace it, and told GM has not recognized this as an issue.

Unhappy

New member as of today,

I had to replace in my 2010 Tahoe, then in the 2012 Suburban I traded the Tahoe in on & now I just saw my 2008 Silverado is cracked at the airbag & over the instrument cluster. My 1987 Camaro's dash is still new looking though

Default POS dash

Just took my 2012 Silverado with 38,776 miles to dealer and since it is out of warranty they negotiated my portion of the repair would be $150 for repair. Also called customer service and was told I should be grateful that they are helping with the issue!!!! WTF a 2 1/2 year old truck that I keep immaculate and I should be grateful that they are helping me to fix a known defected part. I guess since it hasn't be recalled they wont cover it completely or wait is its because its not under warranty anymore. Guess those extra 2776 miles did that dash in!!!!! I will be paying the $150 to have this fixed and then trading it in on a Toyota Tundra. I bet there dash isn't a POS.

jrod06 welcome to the forum...
Funny you say the Tundra, know why its a better built vehicle? it has more American made parts in it then the Chevy trucks! The Tundra has about 70% North American made parts, where as the Silverado is only about 40%....
The only more American made truck then the Tundra is the Ford F-150...
A good portion of the GM vehicles come from China

Chevrolet will step up and replace yours like they did mine. You may need to contact the Area Zone manager. It's a one piece dash so the entire dash will be replaced.

Thanks,
I was on the phone yesterday with Chevrolet yesterday voicing my dis-pleasure, their supposed to get back with me today. I told them I wasn't going to pay again for their problems. The rep. also told me there isn't any recalls because the NHSA hasn't issued any. I told them my other concern is like a earlier post if the airbag deploys the cracked dashboard fragments could become a safety issue. I guess I'll see what they say.
