Chris C.,

Good luck. GM takes no responsibility and try's to entice the dealer to pay for the repairs. The dealer didn't make the truck and with so many people having the same issues you would think GM would get the picture and maintain the last bit of loyalty they have. In my opinion GM doesn't care about the customers. Gues that's why they needed the bailout in the first place.

I just had my dash changed out yesterday by Freedom Chevrolet in San Antonio, for $100. Erica Tiffany helped a great deal as did another customer consultant. Thanks, Chevrolet folks!

mwilson,

Congrats on the dash!!! Dealer took care of you. Still say GM should have fixed it but a dash is a dash. My truck is under warranty so I will get mine done next week. Didn't say it was under warranty at first to see the response. lol

Default Another 2008 with a cracked dash

Another pissed off owner here with a cracked dash. 2008 crew cab Silverado 1500 with 2 cracks in the dash that showed up Thanksgiving week. Did the customer service rep thing, took it by the dealership to hear the same bull crap..........."We are truly sorry your dash has cracked, but due to the high mileage there is nothing we can do for it other than replace it for over $600" Maybe I am just a complete moron, but can someone explain why mileage would have anything to do with the dash cracking on a 5 year old truck? Just another example of why I wish I would have stuck to Fords I guess. The motor in this 2008 had to be replaced at 120,000 miles, "oh we are so sorry about the motor but since this was a company owned truck there is nothing we can do for about it" was GM's response, now the dash is cracking I guess this is due to it being a salesmans truck as well.......Pissed off and disgruntled and going to tell everyone about it I can as well as the company I work for who purchases dozens of 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks a year. We've been buying GM since time began but got a few Fords this past year.......maybe I can convince them to go to strictly Fords for all of our trucks, cars, and SUV's. By the prices on the GSA contract there's only a hundred or so dollars difference so it really just boils down to driver preference and other opinions such as customer service or the lack thereof.

Why is GM not stepping up to the plate and fixing these problems, they know dang good and well that the dash should not crack after only 4-5 years? You pay 30 to 40K for a truck you should not have these little problems. Hell the Yugo I got in high school stayed together better than these new vehicles these days.....it is sickening to say the least.

I just found my excuse to visit San Antonio again, for that price i'll drive down there before I even call a dealer here in Wichita.
Thanks for the information

Default Dash

I recommend a dash mat I have a 2001 live in El Paso, Texas and my dash looks as good as new. Driver leather seat bottom has not faired so well. About twice a year I remove the cover and clean and still in great condition
