Power Chevy Valencia still wants $300 for my cracked dash, so I just bought a dash cover there in the summer so it would form in the heat. The dash cover comes down over the airbag and the small glove box area so its quite large. Being that it needed to form downwards I used Clorox wipes to get every bit of black magic the dealer threw on it before I bought the truck. It made it a lot easier to apply the adhesive strips. This type of cover was a tad bit trickier to align but nothing major.

I will get the dash fixed eventually but the dash cover works for now.

Default Dash crack-read below

New to this forum.

2007 Silverado- took it in in 2009 for dash cracks- as instructed by GM. GM offer- I pay $365. I couldn't see spending that money at the time on top of a $475 dollar a month truck payment. I was not real happy.

Fast forward 4 years- I need a new truck to tow our camper. Bought a new Duramax. Besides the dash in my old truck, I loved my Chevys. Gave the wife the old truck - it still looks showroom new, except for the dash. She wants it replaced, because she's worried about the area around the airbag and she hauls the kids around. Back to GM I go- they send me to the dealer I bought my Duramax from- the dealer says they've never seen a dash crack- no possibility of safety hazard- yada yada. Anyone have some good advice- my dealership isn't the greatest, and they really don't care too much- they already made their money off me.

I am second owner of a 2009 LTZ 97k miles that I absolutely loved untill the dash cracked in 3 different places due to defect filed a claim with gm and took it to two dealerships. Gm basically sent me running around to dealerships to tell me that they wouldn't do anything for me. Need less to say I looking into a ford raptor as my next truck if something doesn't get done soon.

Also my tail lights have been full of water vapor since the first rain after I bought the truck and is extremely annoying I am highly displeased with the quality and customer service I have received.

I'll add my info here…

at 60K, noticed a small crack, upper left corner of the passenger side airbag on the plastic dash. Not the bag cover, but the plastic dash.

I'm now at 89K, and probably should get this safety issue fixed. I've been in contact with the Chevy Customer Care team here (great communication BTW) and they got me in with a local dealer. Price was $1040, and GM was willing to put up 30% of that…so I'd be stuck with a $750 tab for the fix. IMO, a bit too much for me to spend on a known problem with a line of vehicles. I've already asked and the complaint has been elevated to a district specialist, and for that i'm appreciative. Fingers are crossed that the specialist will be able to help.

I'll post back up with whatever info I'm able to get. Thanks for letting me vent

Same situation with my Silverado and a crack right by the passenger airbag. I'm going to contact my local dealer.
