Hello new here I recently installed a used transmission on my 2012 Silverado 6l80 transmission went for test drive an it would not get out of first gear can anyone give some advice as to why? Does it need to be programmed also the check engine light is on.

how many miles on the transmission? Maybe you installed a dead one.
Check engine light means you need to run a diagnostic scan.

 

I don’t remember how many miles are on it but it does shift into reverse an drive but will not get out of first gear

 

that's usually the first clutch to go out. This is the problem with used transmissions.

 

Was this a "known working" tranny?

 

I was told it was a good tranny came out of a totaled truck
