If you decide to do the full delete, consider replacing the valve springs while the heads are off. At 93k it would be recommended to replace the valve stem seals anyway, so it wouldn’t be that much additional labor to replace - or at least inspect - the valve springs.

An experienced auto machinist would know how to test them and what to look for while the springs are off.

I don’t think the valve springs breaking was much of an issue until the more recent models (2015ish & up), but I can’t recall for sure.

We just did a short trip with up in GA mtns and I decided to experiment a bit. The 1st tank of fuel I used tow haul in Drive and let the truck decide when to shift. The next tanks I used tow haul and dropped it into 3rd. The trans temps were higher when the truck shifted in/out of OD and the fuel average was worse. Granted it is hard to compare due to all the diff variables; but 1st tank was ~10mpg and others tank averaged between 11 - 12mpg.

Overall, the truck pulled it well, rpms were 2,000 (55mph) and 2,200 (60mph) mostly 2 lane roads. I also replaced the tires which helped as well,.
