Default Second time now

With 45k miles on my 2014, the AC has stopped working again and my warranty is expired. So is this going to be a common occurrence? I can't there is so many trucks out there with the same problem. Sounds like we are getting the short end of the stick. Maybe it's time we took the matter higher up the chain!

Default 2014 Silverado...no A/c 2 times in 4 months

I'm less than pleased with GM. So at 36k my condensor line develops a leak, just out of warranty gm said it's an out of pocket expense... Dealership quotes me 475, so I drop the car off. Now they want 900$ and when I bring up what I was quoted they drop the bill down(shady). 4 months later now at 44k my condensor is shot. Same dealership said a rock hit my condensor. So I take the vehicle for a second opinion because I didn't notice anything. The ac shop I take it for a second opinion and they look at the truck and say nothing hit it the part is just poorly designed and break. So here I am, No A/c in Florida 100 degree weather and the shop not dealership can get me a condensor because it's on national back order. Dealer quoted me 1300$ which is beyond excessive. Gm again said not their problem. I'm going back to ford this is crap. Haven't had the truck a year and I have to suffer with no A/c. This is my first and will be my last GM product.

A dealer in Texas wants $120 to do a diagnosis of my 2015. I have an appointment for the morning that I will blow off. I stopped at an independent shop on the way home from work. They immediately pulled it in and could see the condensor was leaking. No charge. They are pricing the parts and will give me a quote tomorrow. I guess the AC is bad on 2015's also.

id have them check the condensor as well however they are on a national back order so I can't even get it fixed until one comes available but hey it's not like it's hot In Florida

if it not a warranty job...get an aftermarket part...unless the original part has been revised ...makes no sense to install the same build as the one that failed.

Default Condenser leaking at 84K miles

Same problem as everyone else. Condenser leaking. Local mechanic tried to get an aftermarket part, but not available. Then attempted to order from dealer- on backorder with no estimated release date. Meanwhile I'm stuck with a 100 mile daily commute as summer gets underway with no A/C!! Unacceptable for a 3 year old vehicle! C'mon GM- help me out here!!

Angry Condenser is busted

I own a 2014 Silverado LTZ Z71 4WD. It has approximately 55,000 miles on it and the AC has gone out. Before I rant about the AC I would like to point out that the fuel pump failed on this vehicle at just under 39,000 miles. Fortunately, it was still under warranty at that time. Additionally, the heated seat on the driver's side no longer functions. Not impressed.....now back to the point. My AC stopped blowing cold a few months ago and being that it is no longer under warranty I took it to a local mechanic and he discovered that there was a leak in the condenser. After reading this forum we realized that there are obviously problems with this make and model vehicle. When my mechanic contacted the local dealer to see if there was a recall he was told that GM has pulled all of the OEM condensers and had switched over to another part manufacturer. The trick is that they are not in stock anywhere and GM is only allowing orders to go out to dealers on an individual basis once a VIN number for the vehicle has been provided. Well that was the first week in May and still no condenser available. So basically Chevy knows there is a defect with at least one of the OEM AC components and they have pulled these defective parts off the shelf to prevent them from being used in any repair work. To resolve the issue they are using another manufacturer to provide replacement parts (which is great), but because there is such a back log due to the high volume of part failures, customers are not able to get their AC fixed in a timely manner. I live in Southeast Georgia...it's beyond hot.

Really GM?! Can we just admit that you guys pushed this one off the design floor too soon and that there are some issues? How about a recall or something? At this point it wouldn't even matter because of the inconvenience I've been through.

P.S. - I'm not even going into detail about the other problems with this vehicle such as the cabin vibrations at certain speeds, MyLink glitches, and the jerky response in acceleration caused by the fuel and torque management systems. Lesson learned; never purchase the first year of a new generation vehicle....or just don't buy a GM product.

BTW, I own 3 Chevys....a '98 Blazer, '11 Camaro SS, and now the Silverado.
GM just lost a lifetime customer.

Hot air blowing with AC on. I googled "AC problems 2014 silverado" and got lots of hits. I replaced the compressor line, but it still wouldn't hold freon. I contacted GM (1-800-222-1020) and told them my warranty was out (48000 miles), but have owned the vehicle less than 3 years. They set me up with a local dealer to have the AC checked out. Yep, it was the compressor and it would cost $1098.00 to repair. I explained to the GM rep that this is my 4th new GM truck, and I've never had AC issues with any of them. They said they'd see what they could do.
Well, after sending me to the dealership to confirm the AC problem, GM refused to help on the cost.

I intend to write letters to the editors of most of the auto magazines about this. I encourage everyone to do the same.
