Software Update Requiring Dealer Visit
Is anyone else getting GM letters telling them their 2024 Silverado needs a software update that must be performed at the dealer?
Do you have any idea what exactly this update is for? My letter says we have until October 31, 2026 so it must not be urgent

I have a 2022 Silverado and I received the same letter.
Apparently, it is a very large file to download that needs to installed uninterrupted. Also, if the update does not install properly, then they may have to replace a module in the vehicle. I have read where it can take anywhere from 2 - 4 hours for the update to download and install.

Good Luck!

Yes, I just bought a 2024 in July and had to drop it off for the software update. They said it was several major file downloads that often fail and have to be restarted. Luckily mine went smoothly and it only took a couple hours. It was supposed to correct some glitches but I didn't see a difference. I never had any issues before the update.
