Default 2004 Astro Van - Fuel Pump PWM Pulse Width Modulation?

Good morning Good People.

I work on cars here in NYC, out on the street. Older and late model Porsches and Jags... An old Honda Goldwing Cafe Racer/Bobber. Hope this isn't going to make everyone hate me, lol

Inevitably, neighbors come and ask me to help them with there machines, and yesterday, a friend came over and asked me to help him change the fuel pump in his 2004 Astro Van. It seems that the pump is in the tank...? Is it a PWM set up or can I expect it to be more of the traditional idea? Is cutting a hole in the floor, which he agrees (wants) to, the best route? If not, what's involved in dropping the tank? Is there an inexpensive pump that can be dropped into the basket?

Tell me what to do here and what I should be thinking and understanding going in...

Deep bow and many thanks for your help, in advance. These forums are an amazing resource, I depend on them for the work I do on my old cars,,, would be lost without y'all. Thanks

I would not put a cheap pump in there because they tend to fail in a short time. With the work involved, it is not worth it, even if you cut a hole in the floor. I would only use Delco or Delphi pumps. I am not familiar with the Astro fuel tank, but cutting a hole seems to be the easiest way of doing the job. Make sure ypou cut the hole in the correct place the first time.
