Limp mode? After hard breaking
2003 1500 w/ 220k miles
Had an incident on the freeway yesterday where traffic in front of me basically came to a halt and we went from 70mph to 0 in a few seconds. Brakes got the job done, no skidding no lockup just a rapid deceleration. Once we started moving again, the avalanche would not go faster than about 25-30 mph. Its like it won’t shift into a higher gear. No lights or indicator on control panel other than existing check engine which was previously indicating evap leak.
Brought it to mechanic who wants to sell me on replacing transmission for 6+k. He claims no codes pointing to a “limp mode” or any other sensors that could cause this. I don’t doubt that there may some indications that the tranny is less than perfect, It is 22 years old. Just wondering if anybody has seen this and knows what this shop may be overlooking. Thanks
