Does it blow cold air? Would you go to work and work for free? I am pretty sure any shop will charge you something.

You can give a free estimate on some things like if a customer said "How much would it be to install a alternator on my truck" If they need to do some testing or hook some equipment up (gauges) to find out what is wrong then there would most likely be a charge. Being that it is AC time though you may find a coupon for a free AC check, just read the fine print it may say with repairs.
