Default Temperature gauge moves around

I just bought a 1992 Corsica 3.1 with 54k original miles. It runs great, but I've noticed that the temp gauge moves around while I'm driving. It kind of "twitches" around the middle of the acceptable range. I've checked the coolent level-it's fine. Is this normal for these cars?

I think it might be, I just bought a 95 Beretta and it does the same thing, I'm going to get it checked out anyway and hopefully get it to read accurately

I took it to my mechanic the other day. He couldn't find anything wrong. Said just to keep an eye on it and pull over if it goes over into the "red zone". I'd say, drive it like you normally would.

nope, the sensor is going bad slowly...

Unless there is a lose connection somewhere, or the gauge is broke...

My advise is to treat it as normal unless it goes into the danger zone. I have a buddy that have this happening on his 1995 Cavalier.

The only problem with this is if the engine gets to hot and as the sensor is failing and it does not read higher like it should, thus causing the engine fans to not come on. which can cause it to over heat and that is bad.

Either way, its better to be safe than sorry and just replace the sensor.
Or at least have it checked if the sensor is good and to test for faulty wiring.
