Default Can't get crank position sensor to seat in block

Hi everyone. I'm working on my sister's 2007 Blazer 4.2. Her engine light came on and threw a p335 code. Removed sensor, went to install new sensor and couldn't get it to seat in the block. Jumped on YouTube and found a video by a mechanic working in his shop (as opposed to a backyard mechanic) and he said it'll go in most of the way, then use the hold down bolt and that should seat it. We'll, I broke the tab that holds the bolt. I picked up another sensor and don't want to break another one. Anyone run into this before? Any suggestions? I tried a search but only got general sensor posts and posts about seats. Thank you very much

Is there any piece of the old sensor broken off and is still in the block? If not make sure you lube the sensor o-ring with silicone grease or vaseline. That will help it slide in easier.

thanks Oldcat. I managed to get it in this morning. Slid a 15/16" socket with extension over it until it rested on the shoulder of the sensor. Then put a length of rebar into the extension from the wheel we'll and gently tapped it in with a hammer. A little awkward because the steering column was in the way but got it in.
