Default Any tips for a newbie

Hi everybody just bought a 95 caprice lt1 5.7 love the look n power but it needs a little minor work. My previous car was a 96 nissan maxima 5 spd loved that car . But now i have a new love so i just wanted any tips for this car ? Like what to look for what they suffer from or what to except . And how long do these motors last ?? I plan on keeping this car as my classic n restore it. Thank guys !!

Hi,

welcome to this forum and congratulations to your new car. Normally the Caprice is very reliable, but also needs as any other car, too.
If you keep all the fluids up, and change them frequently, this shall be a long lasting love.

I'm not used to "newer" cars, but take a look at the grease nipples for the steering linkage and the ball joints of the front suspension, maybe newer cars don't have them any more.

Our 1990 Astro has them.

Change every oil: motor, trans, rear axle. Maybe coolant, too. Grease the front wheel bearings.
