1998 Cavalier transmission struggles when cold
I live in a town that gets extremely cold in the winter (often sees temps of 10 to 20 below in Fahrenheit). When the temps do get that cold the car often struggles when starting (to be expected at that temp I assume). When the car does start (it will start successfully every time, it just has to turn over a few extra times.) it's basically un-usable for another ten to twelve minutes while it warms up. If I try to accelerate before it has properly warmed up, the RPM's climb like crazy about to about 4,000, and the car doesn't move faster than about 2 mph. Once it has warmed up, it seems to work perfectly fine, I'm just worried this could be foreshadowing something in the future. Anyone else had this problem?
