98 Cavalier wont start
I have a 98 cavalier 2.2. It died on me going down the road, i hav sprayed starter fluid in the intake and it runs till the fluid is gone. i have changed the fuel filter it was nasty, and the theft light is on all the time.
When "the theft light is on all the time," the vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system has declared a Passlock tamper condition. Check the CLUSTER fuse and CLS/PCM fuse in the I/P fuse block. Also, measure the voltage at those fuses. The CLUSTER fuse should have battery voltage at all times and the CLS/PCM fuse, with key in RUN or START. After that, suspect either the I/P cluster (includes the VTD logic), ignition lock cylinder (Passlock sensor integrated), or wiring between.
dont u hate when its the simplest thing, well i was checking the fuses like u said to, and lo and behold there is a f/p - injctr fuse..... i pull it out and it was blown to hell and back, put a new one in, cranks up and runs like a dream.... theft system light is still on all the time, not blinking. im just happy it runs now!!!

Well i am back yet again with the same car. It cranks ok, little bit of a rough idle. it wants to die but then it idles up and is ok for a few, then rinse and repeat. it will do that untill u turn it off, if u try to drop it in gear it dies just about automatically. Also, it has been wanting to stay running after you turn the ignition off. i have done research and that could b the igniton switch. I am on a very tight budget and need this car to get to and from work, i have nobody that has a fuel pressure gauge, and it does not have the little test port on the fuel rail =[ Changed the plugs today, one had a huge crack in it. But to no avail it didnt help at all.

On your Passlock issue, it's apparently in the fail-enable mode. You may want to get it looked at since the minute you disconnect the battery, you won't be able to start your vehicle again.
