Default Price of Solenoid

Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice.

I bought a 2000 Cavalier 4dr about 4 weeks ago. A few weeks ago it started having trouble shifting to anything above second. I had the transmission fuel checked and flushed but that hasn't helped. I was told it may be the Solenoid. I don't know much about cars but I know it's an auto Transmission, 2.4L.

I'm just wondering how much (ballpark) it would cost to have the solenoid replaced, parts + labour?

Thanks

A solenoid is about 20 dollars and the labor according to my guide is 8hrs.
So whatever the shop you go to charges for 8hr of labor will have to be added on.

thanks for your response.
8 hours seems like a long time to change one part.
I've heard from some people that it may take 2 hours which may seem more realistic. Does anyone else have any experience with this?
