My daughter has a 1983 c10 with a 6.2 diesel. Her truck is breaking starter bolts like crazy. I have never heard of this problem before. Unfortunately i live 2,000 miles away and cannot look at her truck. I did read that there is a starter bracket that people do not reinstall when they replace the starter. Anyone heard of this issue...

 

I know those old starters had to be shimmed properly. Mechanics these days probably have no idea.

 

Had see that quite often. Bracket goes from the rear of the starter to the engine block, if it's missing that will cause your issues.
