Cobalt This sporty compact was faced with the difficult job of replacing the popular Cavalier, but whether the base model, or the supercharged SS is chosen, is has made for a great replacement.

So I have an ongoing issue with the A/C. It causes a loud vibration/ almost grinding noise when turned on. I am replacing the radiator fan because I discovered it is damaged. My guess is clutch or compressor may need replaced. If I do replace the compressor do I need to replace anything else? Any tips or advice would be appreciated Thanks

It's normal practice to chuck the receiver/dryer (accumulator) and particularly get rid the orifice tube. If there are lots of particles in the O-T you are going to need to flush the entire system, I'm no A/C cop.or anything but legally you need a shop to pull the R-134A out for recycling, but that's your decision. I would make sure it's not the mag-clutch first. And never use A/C sealant in the R-134A. I'd use a bottle of the UV/green leak detector, but not the sealer, when you add the new R-134A. Have you checked the A/C pressures at all? Is it putting out any cold air?

Too as a PSA I hope you have the new ignition switch for your Cobalt. The early ones were prone to shutting off if it was lightly touched. If not Chevy will replace it for free.
