Hoping someone can help...

My driver's side door will not open from the outside or inside, I think something is broken or came loose in the mechanism inside the door. I removed the inner handle and the wire is attached but won't open the door when I pull. I tried bumping the door from the outside while pulling on the handle but no luck. I could probably fix it myself but can't open the door to get the panel off.

My mechanic said he doesn't want to mess with it and recommended a body shop. My other mechanic claims they're booked. I think it's probably not worth it to them. Is there any other suggestion someone might have?

EDIT: Well that was weird. A day later I drove somewhere, then pulled the handle out of habit and it opened. Please disregard this post.
