Dingy towing
Hello all, just bought the Colorado 4x4 and want to know if I can start towing it right away or if I need to drive it for awhile first?
Thanks for any input, Richard Bark

I did that. I have a friend that was told to not tow his till after 500 miles or so.there is nothing about that under recreation towing section. Most likely they want you to do the brake in period befor towing.

Are you sure your friend heard that right? Yes, do not to tow with a new vehicle as the engine is under a large load from pulling. There is no load when BEING towed.
just make sure with your build, that it is dingy towable. if its auto transmission, the t case must have a neutral setting and an internal oil pump that will spin with the driveshaft.

Battery disconnect
my Colorado is towable as long as I follow the guidelines in the owners manual. My other question is, why do I have to disconnect the battery before towing? What harm would it cause by leaving it connected?

Tech2, I understand that one must do that. I'm trying to understand why one has to disconnect the battery before towing. Called my Chevy dealer and got no answers, called GMC support and got no answers either.

if you have to turn the key to accessory to unlock the wheel, it will power up modules and drain the battery.
when you get your tow bar installed on your truck, the shop should explain this.
