Cruze Chevy's newest entry into compact cars takes safety to an all new level and ridicules the status quo set by the other manufacturers.

Can someone explain to me how the Cruze still advertises better MPG than Corolla

Well-it gave me a chuckle or 2! No heater not an option in winter in this part of Canada-although heater did quit at -16...but I was too busy thawing out frozen parts to check mpg.New car-bad gas mileage from software update for transmission-coincidentally that's when car started shooting to 3500-4500 rpms when shifting(automatic) Very light foot-I'm in a 40 km school zone. All else checked-tires etc.Whatever they did on that update to boost shift time IMHO is the problem-and it sounds like they're not worried about 2011 problems anymore. Will probably take a loss-but will never buy another GM product(after over 40 years of them) because of GM's crappy attitude.

comparing money when your looking for mpg isnt the best idea. gas prices change but the mpg dosnt. its to bad you couldnt tell us some concrete numbers on what each car was getting.
i have never reset the mpg display on my car since i got it. after about 10,000 miles i am averaging 33 mpg. which was the advertised combined gas mileage when i purchased the car. so i am right on there. when i am going 55 i average around 40 which is better than the 38 that was on the sticker when i got it. and i get about 50-55 mpg when i go between 25-35 mph.

just a last fact thrown in right below the mpg display is the mph display and i have averaged about 38-39mph since i owned the car. (this includes time spent warming up the car on those cold days we have had the past month and a half)

one last note, every time i fill up i write down my mpg and mph since the last fill up. this last one was the worst yet, i averaged a total of 31.8 mpg and averaged 30.0 mph. these numbers were expected though because like i hinted at, i like to get into a nice warm car and when the car is running and not moving that kills your averages.
