Default crazy high price for replacing part of valve body

2018 Chevy Cruze LT, 1.4L engine. I was getting P0711 and P0713 error codes for the transmission temp sensor. I took it to one place, where all they did was replace the transmission fluid and said next step was replacing the valve body. Bought the temp sensor from my local dealer, and tried to find somewhere else. Second place it's at now says the temp sensor is part of a non-serviceable component with the transmission control module, pressure sensors, etc, and the replacement part is $1500. At least it's not the whole valve body...

is this reasonable? is it possible to get this as a used part somewhere else? This sounds way too expensive to be the best option.

Haven't been able to stop by a wrecking yard. Looked at rockauto and checked transmission parts for my car, and do not see a temperature sensor, which does seem to confirm that it's not a part they can just replace. Did find a transmission control module they could use, so I'll check it out, thank you!
