6t40 transmission or not
How do I tell if my transmission is a 6t40 or not. 2020 equinox 1.5L turbo. I'm trying to locate the vent/fill cap that is supposed to be on top of case.

Do you have 6 speeds or 9 speeds? the RPO codes on your door sticker should give you the tranny model. It's the 'M' codes I think.
Or post your VIN.

according to the gm parts catalog (parts-catalog.acdelco.com) the 1.5T's have a 6T40 transmission.

My transmission is a 6 speed.
Door sticker only has tire and load info.
Is the sticker on the door or door frame? Sticker on mine is on door frame.
I can't see a vent/fill cap on top of xmsn. I've seen pictures of it on you tube several times but I do not have a cap where those pics show it.
I also have a parts breakdown of the 6t40 that show the part. I don't have the sheet with part numbers. Dealer parts guy gave the parts breakdown to me but the service guy was no help. It's hard to see the top of xmsn but there is no vent/fill cap where parts sheet or you tube shows. I'm trying to find out if I have one at all.
Thanks for any info.

I have seen this video and I do not have a cap where he shows it. That'd one reason I'm asking for info on it.. Maybe I have a different xmsn?

I went to the dealership and the service writer said not to worry, their techs knew how to drain and fill. They were not interested in giving out any info.

maybe you asked the wrong question. Did you ask "where is my fill plug?" or "which transmission does my car have?". Try a different dealership.
Do you have the check and drain plugs on the side, which are shown in the video?

I asked the questions you referenced.
Spent most of morning looking at referenced video and pausing several times to get screen shots showing locations of plugs etc.
They are the same as the video.
Near where video shows fill cap is a lever and rod that I assume is shift lever.
Think i'll try dealer again now that I know a little more about it.
